Young Forever: The latest bestseller from Dr. Mark Hyman
Dr. Mark Hyman has long been a fan of Mitopure®, and he talks about why extensively in his latest best-seller Young Forever.
How to be Young Forever
Renowned functional medicine expert Dr. Mark Hyman, MD, is at it again with another best-selling book! It’s not every day that someone can take the complex science of aging and distill it in such a way that even those with no understanding of basic biology can grasp the concepts and take advantage of his wisdom. It’s no wonder that his new book Young Forever was an instant bestseller.
Not only does Dr. Hyman explain what happens to our cells as we age, but he gives tangible solutions that anyone can use to help slow down and even reverse this process. Of course, he addresses the fundamental lifestyle behaviors that contribute to aging, such as a poor diet, lack of exercise, and low-quality sleep, but he also provides deep insight into important supplements with strong research backing that show great promise in increasing our health and longevity.
Dr. Hyman's take on Mitopure®
It should come as no surprise that Mitopure® made his list of longevity supplements. In fact, he refers to Mitopure and Urolithin A 17 times in his book! But don’t take our word for it, let’s hear it from the expert himself.
An entire section of Dr. Hyman's book is titled “A Post-Biotic Muscle-Building, Energy Enhancing Polyphenol: Urolithin A.” He shares that “Urolithin A induces mitophagy, or the cleaning up of old mitochondria, as well as the production of new mitochondria.” He dives into the compelling research that demonstrates Mitopure’s ability to:
- Increase leg muscle strength by 12%
- Improve V02 max (a marker of aerobic fitness) by 10 %
- Improved distance walked and muscle strength
“All without doing a lick of exercise.”
Mitopure and muscle health
Dr. Hyman addresses the importance of muscle health as we age. Sarcopenia, or the age-related loss of muscle mass, can significantly impact someone's quality of life and risk of illness and even death. Dr. Hyman calls sarcopenia an "accelerator of rapid aging and disease" and shares that “since sarcopenia is such a critical feature of aging, a supplement that can reverse it and improve muscle function as we age is a significant finding.” We couldn’t agree more.
Adequate protein intake is necessary to support muscle health as we age. He prefers animal protein sources over plant-based sources due to the higher levels of creatine and leucine, which support protein synthesis. For those who choose plant proteins, he feels that it’s especially important to “supplement with leucine, branched-chain amino acids, creatine, and even phytonutrients such as Urolithin A” to adequately support muscle health.
This is just the start of Dr. Hyman's incredible insights he shares in Young Forever. If you’d like to join the thousands of people looking to revolutionize how we age, be sure to read the whole book available on Amazon.
